36 Club

36 Club is a school wide program designed to help students with their basic math facts. Make sure your child is practicing at home EVERY DAY until they pass them all off. There will be rewards for students as they pass off each concept and when they pass off the humdinger I will give their name to Mrs. Tompson to add to our 36 club board. Students have the entire year to pass these off, but I will require they are finished with addition and subtraction by December break. They need to pass all 36 facts in 1 minute 30 seconds and the humdinger in 5 minutes. Thanks for practicing these with your kids.

What Are We Working On??

Reading - We will spend the year learning and practicing a variety of different reading strategies and reading many different books independently and in small groups.
Writing - We will spend the year writing a variety of different types of stories and learning how to use the 6 + 1 Traits of writing to become better writers.
Read Aloud -Now we have started reading Pillage by Obert Sky. It is a fantasy/mystery book and is very entertaining and thought provoking.
Social Studies - For the next few weeks, we will be working on Biz Town activities for Social Studies. We will be learning how to manage money and how to run and work at a business in our society.
Science - Our next science unit is going to be electricity. We will learn about circuits and how electricity works. We will do a fun electricity house as a final project.
Math - We will be starting our fractions unit. This is a unit that students usually learn a lot of new information that they didn't know before. Please help your children with any homework they are struggling with in this unit.
